For an existing infestation you want the quickest kill. Zodiac Pet Sprays (and shampoos) work the fastest because they are applied directly to the entire coat and kill fleas and ticks on contact.

For severe flea problems, treatments can be performed weekly. Precor (IGR is unaffected by regular bathing or swimming
Precor Insect Growth Regulator (I.G.R) effectively breaks the flea life cycle and prevents the growth of the preadult stages of the flea. Application: 8.5 mL of per kilogram of body weight (i.e. 6 squeezes of the trigger sprayer per kilogram) will provide effective flea control.
For best results: To prevent pests from crawling inside your pet’s ears and nose begin application at the head. Spray against natural lay of the hair, rub in well and, following the natural lay of the hair. Wipe off excess with dry cloth and then brush. A topical or collar can be applied one week after a pet spray application. ALWAYS READ AND FOLLOW THE LABEL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING OR APPLYING ANY PEST CONTROL PRODUCTS.
Do NOT use on nursing animals or dogs or cats under 8 weeks of age.
If signs of sensitivity occur, bathe your pet with mild soap and rinse with large amounts of water.
Repeat only as necessary (i.e. only if flea infestation on pet is evident).
Given the residual control, the application of this product once every 2 months should be adequate
In exceptional circumstances, where there is a heavy external source of adult fleas re-infesting the animal,
re-treatment may be increased to once per week.
